We have to take responsibility and be a leader for reducing fossil CO2, says Mikael Andersson, president of Taxi Stockholm. Earlier the board of Taxi Stockholm decided to reduce the fossil CO2 emissions from their cars with 40% by 2012. The decision to only use green cars will speed up the process. Every taxi car is being exchanged every third year. From next year, every car that is exchanged will be exchanged to a green car. Only two and a half year ago, Taxi Stockholm only had four green cars out of 1500. Today the number is 280. We see a increasing interest from our clients and that is joyful news. Today clients can ask for a green car when calling the taxi company. Company clients can also choose to have a green car as the default choice for all of the company bookings. -”We want to do something here and now", says Mikael Andersson. "Green cars and bio fuels are the only alternatives when we se the rapid climate changes". Every green car is being audited by an external auditor, checking that at least 80% of the distance is runned on bio fuels. –”We have also set a target to only use HA-oil free tires and wash the cars in green carwashes". -”However, we cannot do this on our one. The politicans and car manufacturers have to speed up. Politicans have to decide on clear classifications of green cars and the big car manufacturers have to increase the supply of green cars a lot faster. We are ready to buy them".
