Sustainable Sweden Tour - Chile

4th - 12th september 2011

This Sustainable Sweden Tour was part of a cooperation project between Chile and Sweden aiming to create exchanges of competence and know-how between the 2 countries regarding sustainable practices, for which a Swedish network of companies/organizations has been constituted in the precedent months.

That's why besides of the study visits - mainly focused on sustainable waste management system, biogas, Eco-municipalities and informal education - 2 workshops were organized, as an opportunity for the Chilean delegation to expose their specific challenges, and to create professional links/future collaboration with some members of the Swedish network.

FALKENBERG

Presentation of the Eco-municipality of Falkenberg, with Jan-Olof Andersson (from the sustainable development committee of Falkenberg)
Meeting with Ebbe Nordell, from International Energy Solutions, presentation of the bio-carbonisation process
Accommodation in Alvhaga Wildmark, ecological tourism area located in a protected natural park
Meeting with its owner Claës Ljung

1st Work-Shop : Torbjörn's Lahti, presentation of the Eco-municipality 5.0 concept
Focus on the Chilean challenges
Presentation of the municipality of Calera de Tango and of the province of Arauco
Discussions with members of the Swedish network

Study visit : ecological construction adapted to the Chilean conditions - ecological toilets (permanent composting) with Per-Arne Svensson
Study visit of Falkenberg's biogas production plant and of the recycling center of the municipality company in charge of waste management (Vivab)

Day 4

Study visit and lunch with Triventus (company working with renewable energy sources -windpower, biogas, hydroelectricity)
Ecological driving (Murtans trafikskola)
Study visit : Falkenberg's windpower plant
Study visit : ecological/passive buildings (Hertings Gard)

Presentation of Swedish informal education system : with Oscar Mejia and Oscar Loncochino from studyförbundet vuxenskolan

Presentation of Umeå (meeting Royne Söderstrom, sustainable strategist of the municipality)
Study visit : Alidhem sustainable building
Study visit : Dava power plant (power and central heating from waste – biogas)
Study visit : Green Zone (example of sustainable and system thinking in the industrial sector)
Presentation from representatives from Umeva (water and waste treatment), SWECO (sustainable consultant)
Dinner and discussions with Royne Söderstrom

Presentation of the Eco-municipality of Skelleftea
Study visit : wooden construction (bridges/buildings)

Presentation of the sustainable reconversion of the village, with the mayor Sture Bäckström
